Skyrim Mod: The Falmer in the Dell

Having finished the largest and most challenging (design-wise) chamber in this mod, I thought I'd celebrate by posting a few images. This chamber features a Falmer village, a chaurus farm, an underground lake, several traps, and the entrance to a Falmer palace. It looks like the layout will all be downhill from here (figuratively), except for a large portion of it that will be uphill (literally). After that, it's time to start on the lighting and decorations!

Skyrim Mod: Going With the Flow

Work continues on my Skyrim mod... One of the features of this mod is that it heavily showcases water. Dripping water, leaking hallways, murky puddles, flowing streams, and even an underground river are all part of this mod's theme. Working with water seems to have a work flow (no pun intended) all its own, but dramatically improves the look and interest factor of the dungeon layout. Check out a few recent screenshots below:

Work in Progress: Skyrim Mod

My latest obsession has had me jogging from one end of Tamriel to the other with a big heavy bag of dragon bones to try to get rid of an annoying dog. I'm referring to The Elder Scrolls : Skyrim, the sprawling open-world RPG, whose recently released set of modding tools has geeks like me salivating over the idea of creating our own dungeons and weapons for the game. However, the more creative you want to get, the more work must be put in to your mod. I'm currently learning this firsthand, as I attempt to put together a 'simple' dungeon that is eating far more of my time than first expected.

Here are a few early screenshots (please note that I have not yet begun working on the lighting, which will make these scenes look MUCH better upon completion):

News: Steam Workshop - Tweaks and Fixes

It's been a while since I've submitted any 'new' TF2 items, however I have been working on a few tweaks and fixes for my older items...

First up is the Pocket Medic. Sometime after the Pocket Medic became an official item in Team Fortress 2, someone at Valve added a shadow pass to the texture. However, since the item included a pocket meant to match Heavy's vest, the shadow pass darkened the pocket to the point where it no longer matched the vest. I've updated the texture file to take away the shadows on the pocket, while leaving them intact on the rest of the model. You can view the Workshop entry here.

Next, the Barbershop Boater, an all-class hat I had submitted a while back, has been revamped to remove the additional bow-tie I added to the hat (due to the inclusion of the 'Dr. Whoa' item in the game, the bowtie was now redundant). I also streamlined the hat with an LOD model (that's Level of Detail, a simplified version of the hat used to save memory when the item is seen from far away), and solved a few texture issues that sprang up from said LOD model. Additionally, with the recent upgrade of the Workshop that added the ability to place multiple pictures and videos on each Workshop entry, I took the liberty of adding more photos of the Boater in action, which can all be found here.

Finally, I took an older hat of mine, the Comrade's Cranial Protector (or CCP), dusted it off, updated the texture to more closely match TF2's style, and re-submitted it to the Workshop. The hat, a Chinese army cap, was part of my entry into TF2's Polycount Contest, wherein contestants created themed packs of TF2 items for one of the 9 classes. I chose to make a pack for the Heavy, with the theme being 'Around the World With Communism'. The other items included a Cuban shotgun, and a punching weapon that symbolized the Hammer and Sickle. Anyhow, check out the CCP here.

News: Steam Workshop - The Smamukkah Moose

I've added a new item to the Steam Workshop... The Smamukkah Moose. When Valve requested items themed to "a holiday our lawyers tell us not to mention, but rhymes with 'Smissmas'", they also mentioned that it would also be acceptable to create items for "Smamukkah" as well. Since most other contributors seemed to be going for the former holiday, I thought it would only be fair to make something for all the "Smebrews" out there. Check here for the item's profile on the Steam Workshop.
